12 Hour Paediatric First Aid in Southend, Essex(meeting OFSTED Requirements)

This course has been specifically designed for those working in the care of children and infants and fully meets the requirements set out by both OFSTED and the Early Years Foundation Stage.

 

This course will be of particular interest to Nursery and Pre-School staff, Teachers, Childminders, Au Pairs and Nannies, Creche workers and Play Group personnel.

Description: A course designed specifically with children in mind, this course will enable child care personnel to act quickly and effectively in the event of a child suffering an injury or falling ill. Illness assessment of children can be tricky, and early identification of a serious illness such as meningitis or sepsis can often greatly improve a child's chances of making a full recovery.

 

Duration: To meet OFSTED and EYFS requirements, a minimum of 12 hours split over a minimum of 2 days must be completed. This course can be offered as 100% classroom based, or blended where day 1 is completed online and day 2 in the classroom. Both classroom and blended option fully meet OFSTED and EYFS requirements with the blended option designed to cut down on the time required to be spent away from the work environment.

  • Responsibilities and reporting
  • Assessment of the situation
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Infantile convulsion
  • Control of bleeding and shock
  • Bites and stings
  • Eye injuries
  • Sickle cell anaemia
  • Resuscitation
  • Head injuries
  • Diabetes
  • Foreign bodies
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Epilepsy
  • Heat and Cold
  • Electrical injuries
  • Fainting
  • Choking
  • Fractures
  • Meningitis
  • Burns

  • Asthma

Certification: All successful delegates will be issued with a Paediatric First Aid certificate valid for 3 years. It is recommended that all delegates undertake an annual refresher in-between re-taking this qualification.

 

Assessment: Although there is no formal assessment, the instructor will assess all delegates throughout the course.
