Emergency Paediatric First Aid in Southend, Essex

Description: This course does not meet the requirements set out by OFSTED or the Early Years Foundation Stage, if you require training that meets OFSTED requirements please click 12 hour Paediatric First Aid meeting OFSTED requirements. The Emergency Paediatric First Aid is designed for people who work in childcare but are not registed with OFSTED, or staff who work in settings with OFSTED registration and are being trained to a more basic level to accompany staff with the full 12-hour Paediatric First Aid qualification.

Duration: This course is for a minimum of 6 hours (1 day).

Syllabus: This course covers less than the 12-hour course with an emphasis on the more serious Paediatric Emergencies including:

• Legalities, Responsibilities and Reporting
• Scene Assessment and Safety
• Infant and Child Definitions Relating to First Aid
• Infection Control
• Unconscious, Breathing Casualty
• Cardiac Arrest
• Resuscitation of Infants and Children including use of AED (defib)
• Choking
• Serious Bleeding including bandaging
• Shock including Anaphylaxis
• Burns
• Seizures and Epilepsy
• Meningitis
• Spinal Injury
• Fractures and Dislocations
• Head and Eye Injuries
• Poisoning
• Asthma
• Febrile Convulsions and Croup

Certification: All successful delegates will be issued with a Paediatric First Aid certificate valid for 3 years. It is recomended that all delegates undertake an annual refresher in-between re-taking this qualification.

Assessment: Although there is no formal assessment, the instructor will assess all delegates throughout the course.
